Cantor Ella Gladstone Martin was born in Jerusalem and raised in Toronto, Canada where she received her Bachelor of Music in jazz voice at the University of Toronto. Ella is the proud recipient of several academic honors including the Women of Reform Judaism’s Morris Zimmerman Memorial Award in Torah Cantillation (2022), the Women in Reform Judaism Prize, 2021-22, the St. Louis Circle of Jewish Music Prize for Vocal Development (2021) and the Isaac Mayer Wise Scholarship.
As the Cantorial Intern at Shaaray Tefila in Manhattan, she has led Kabbalat Shabbat services, organized regular Saturday minyanim, chanted Torah, taught Torah study, tutored B’nei Mitzvah students, and taught religious school. In the past, Cantor Gladstone Martin has served as Student Cantor at North Country Reform Temple, Glen Cove, NY and the Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
Cantor Gladstone Martin loves dance, especially Zumba. She enjoys theater, cinema, and reading, with a special interest in memoirs. She feels overjoyed to be joining the clergy team at The Community Synagogue and looks forward to being part of our synagogue family.

6:30 pm – Chanukah Service with your clergy and the Shabbat Band as our community gathers to welcome Shabbat and celebrate the 2nd night of Chanukah! Worship in person or watch on our Website.
Chanukah Party to immediately follow the annual Chanukah Service. Enjoy a Make Your Own Doughnut Bar, Blue & White Candy Kebabs, a Dreidel Competition, and much more!
Saturday, December 9
9:00 am – Shabbat Havurah Morning & Torah Study with Rabbi Z, worship and study in person or register here to join via Zoom. Torah Study will take place during Shabbat Havurah Morning service and will begin at approximately 9:15 am.
10:30 am – Shabbat Morning (B'nai Mitzvah of Jack Steinberg & Chase Winder), worship in person or watch on our Website.
