This informative class will allow you the opportunity to strengthen what you already know about Israel, add information that wasn’t previously there, and regardless of our opinions about Israel, allow us to ask ourselves (and maybe even answer) much more securely, how does all this relate to us and why do we care?

From Selma to Sinai: A Jewish Journey for Justice
Thursday Nov. 13 - Sunday Nov. 16

Join us for an immersive civil rights journey through Montgomery, Birmingham, and Selma—key sites of the American Civil Rights Movement—explored through the lens of Jewish values and history.  Through site visits and conversations with local leaders, we will learn about the struggles of African Americans to gain equality in the 1950s & 60s as well as discover how Jews were involved in the Civil Rights struggle. Visits include, among other sites, the Equal Justice Initiative Legacy Museum, the Rosa Parks Museum, the Martin Luther King Center, walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the 16th Street Baptist Church and Sunday worship at the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Grown Up & Me - Songs for Seeds

Join Songs for Seeds, The Community Synagogue's NEWEST Grown Up & Me Class. Here, you and your child will learn all while jamming out to the best that children's music has to offer. This class will provide play time and movement, with the support of caregivers in the class, aid in the development of gross and fine motor skills.

Mah Jongg and Canasta Club

Do you Farshtay A Bisl Yiddish? If the answer is yes, do we have a group for you! Our group reads Yiddish Literature transliterated into English. Therefore, no experience reading it’s original Hebraic letters required.
