Caring Committee

The ability to care for and love one another is an important Jewish virtue and the ultimate goal of the MITZVAH CORPS of our congregation. We strive to ensure that no member of our synagogue is alone in a time of need. In the past, Mitzvah Corps volunteers have engaged in acts of kindness such as:

  • driving congregants to doctor appointments, medical treatments, etc.,
  • preparing a meal for an ill congregant and/or their family,
  • visiting or arrange a visit to a homebound or elderly congregant,
  • providing rides to services or other synagogue activities

We have engaged in a number of programs in the past, and welcome your input on these and other ideas, such as in:

SEPTEMBER - Preparing and delivering Rosh Hashanah gift packages of apples and honey to fellow congregants who lost a loved one during the past year.
DECEMBER- Leading a Chanukah celebration, along with our clergy, for the residents at a local nursing home.
SPRING - Joined by our clergy in helping lead an abbreviated Passover seder and celebration for  residents of a nearby nursing home.

If you would like to volunteer or are in need of help in any way, please contact the Caring Committee Chair: Sara Raber Sararaber106@gmail.com or (516) 510-8459‬
