Caring Committee
Caring Committee
At our synagogue, our Caring Committee is a devoted team of compassionate volunteers
available to support our community in times of challenge—whether after illness, loss, or just
when someone needs a caring presence. Grounded in the Jewish value of chesed (loving-
kindness), we’re here to make sure no one ever feels alone.
Our Services Include:
• Visiting members who are ill or recovering
• Assisting with doctor appointments and logistics
• Delivering thoughtfully prepared meals
• Supporting families during shiva
• Bringing challah to the bereaved on the first Shabbat after a loss
• Assembling and delivering care packages to breast cancer survivors
• Offering companion visits to homebound seniors throughout the year
• Connecting members with outside resources if we are unable to assist directly.
Contact:
If you—or someone you know—could benefit from our support, please reach out to Mariel Canjura, Senior Clergy Assistant, at 516-441-0844 and she will connect you with a clergy person or one of
our committee cochairs, Deena Katz (Deena@pondlane.com) or Sara Raber
(sararaber106@gmail.com)
