URJ Experiences
URJ Experiences
The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) offers multiple leadership, social justice, and Israel trips over the summer and throughout the year. We encourage the youth and teens of The Community Synagogue to engage in programming in and out of the Port Washington community. Whether it’s spending a summer at Kutz Camp or spending a semester in Israel, we know that Jewish identities are strengthened by experiencing the world.
LEADERSHIP
NFTY is teen-powered programming that offers regional, sub-regional, and national events for Jewish teens to experience, learn, and connect. NFTY Convention occurs every two years to bring all 19 NFTY Regions together for four days of social, educational, charitable, and religious programming. For more information on NFTY, please click here.
NFTY678 is a safe and welcoming space for middle schoolers to be introduced to the URJ’s youth group experience. Events happen on the regional level and allow the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders of The Community Synagogue to meet other Jewish middle schoolers in the New York Area Region. For more information on NFTY678, please click here.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Mitzvah Corps is where teens build, create, and travel the world. It’s the perfect way to not only see the world, but to change the world. For more information on Mitzvah Corps, please click here.
The Religious Action Center (RAC) is the URJ’s hub for advocacy and activism located in Washington DC. From gun violence prevention to civil rights, the RAC offers multiple opportunities for teens and college students to find their voice. The RAC also offers L’Taken Social Justice Seminars in Washington DC every year. For more information on the Religious Action Center, please click here.
ISRAEL
Heller High is a semester of hands-on learning for 10th – 12th graders at a fully-accredited American high school in Israel. For more information on Heller High, please click here.
NFTY in Israel is an opportunity for 9th – 11th graders to travel to Israel with their camp friends or to make new ones! Who wouldn’t want an inspirational and educational summer adventure in Israel? For more information on NFTY in Israel, please click here.
Sci-Tech Israel is the perfect opportunity for teens who want to experience firsthand the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that powers the Israeli sci-tech sector. For more information on Sci-Tech Israel, please click here. https://6pointsscitech.org/israel/
