Immediate Past President - Deena Katz
Deena has been a member of The Community Synagogue (TCS) since 1999 when she first moved to Sands Point with her family. At that time, she was seeking a congregation where she and her family would feel immediately welcome and comfortable, develop close personal relationships with the clergy and staff, and make new and lasting friendships. Deena is proud to say that all these (and more) goals were accomplished paving the way to her leadership position as President of the synagogue.
From her earliest days, Deena has been an active member of TCS and has held various leadership and volunteer positions, including Board of Trustee (8 years), VP of Education (4 years), Facilities Use Committee Chair (3 years), Gala Committee Chair (3x), Religious School Parent Advisory Chair Rabbi and Associate Rabbi Search Committees, Compensation Committee, FLAME family learning, Mitzvah Day, President of the Board and many more.
Deena is married to Erik, her college sweetheart and soulmate. Together they have been blessed with four remarkable and loving children – David, Kasey, Danielle and Kenny. Over the years TCS has been a significant part of the lives of Deena’s family, helping to celebrate numerous life cycle events, comforting them during difficult times including loss and sickness, and providing meaningful Tikkun Olum opportunities reinforcing the importance of service and giving back.
Deena worked for ten years in Marketing at Proctor & Gamble and Bristol Myers Squibb where she held various positions, including her last position as Marketing Director. Deena graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
Deena loves to exercise and you’ll often see her running in town, training at the gym or sweating on a spin bike.
