Through three articles by two American, Jewish authors Anne Roiphe and Cynthia Ozick, we’ll talk about Christmas trees and Judaism and some of the important Jewish questions that come up during this season of the year including Jewish-American identity, Jewish particularism and Jewish ritual, meaning and change.

Rabbi Jade Sank Ross grew up in Kinnelon, New Jersey. She graduated from Brandeis University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and International and Global Studies and received her Master’s Degree in Hebrew Literature and her Rabbinic Ordination from the Hebrew Union College—Jewish Institute of Religion. Currently, Jade serves as a Rabbi at The Community Synagogue in Port Washington, NY. As a food lover, Jade spends much of her free time in the kitchen cooking and baking. Jade and her husband, Rabbi Dan Ross, love to eat their way through their travels, visit with family, and spend time with their dog Rashi.

About Rosh Chodesh:
What is Rosh Chodesh? A special day that Jewish feminists have "reclaimed" for feminine spirituality. Tradition says that as a reward for our faithfulness, God gave women Rosh Chodesh, the first day of the new month, and even exempted us from our usual household duties.

The Rosh Chodesh Group is jointly sponsored by The Community Synagogue, Port Jewish Center, and Temple Beth Israel.
