Adult Jewish Civil Rights Journey

Thursday, October 27, 2022 2 Cheshvan 5783

All Day for 3 Days

The Civil Rights Journey is one that will help you explore the Jewish connection to the Civil Rights Movement in the mid-20th century American South. We will journey in Georgia and Alabama not only visiting key sites but meeting the people involved in the struggle for equality and justice. We will meet those who worked and strategized with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as people who participated in the march from Selma to Montgomery.  From worship in an Alabama synagogue to walking the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, visiting moving museums and experiencing the joyous prayers of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta (led by Rev. Warnock, one of Georgia’s U.S. Senators) you will come away inspired to consider ways to be involved in the ongoing struggle for greater justice and equality.

The cost is $1399 ($375 single room supplement) which includes all meals (beginning on Friday breakfast and ending with Sunday breakfast) all ground transportation, hotels, admission and programming costs. Airfare and driver’s tip are not included.

Please note that there will be a minimum of 20 participants registered by July 31 for this trip to take place.  You do NOT have to be a member of The Community Synagogue to participate.
