What is the Mitzvah Corps

The Mitzvah Corps is a group of active volunteers who continue to seek ways
to reach out to congregants need assistance.

Please call us if you need...

A ride to or from a doctor's appointment
Food shopping
Preparation of a meal
A friendly chat
Aride to or from services

We do community service as well. Our annual Mitzvah Day involves hundreds
of congregants in a wide variety of social justice projects and events.

In addition to Mitzvah Day, we volunteer for service projects within our
synagogue, Port Washington and greater Long Island community. We are about
reaching out and giving to those in need of support. Past projects included:

Book drive for a South Bronx school
Cell phone collection for victims of domestic violence
Conducting a mini-seder at the SPCHR
Winter coat drive
Sorting and packaging of food for LI Food Harvest

A new project is to reach out to congregants who would like a ride to
Shabbat
services. If you cannot drive or feel uncomfortable driving at night, we
can easily give you a ride to synagogue and home again. Just call one of the
co-chairs listed below.

We welcome new members. Helping hands are always needed. You do not need to
participate in every project, but there might be some things that you would
like to do to help.

Please call the temple office at 883-3144 or e-mail the co-chairs to offer
your help or if you have any questions about the Mitzvah Corps.
