In the Darfur region of Sudan an act of “ethnic cleansing” of massive proportions is occurring. According to recent reports by the World Food Program, the United Nations and the Coalition for International Justice, 3.5 million people are now hungry, 2.5 million have been forced to move due to violence, and 400,000 people have died in Darfur thus far.
It is time for us to stand up for the millions killed, tortured and displaced in Dafur. To find out more about what is happening and how to help look at www.savedarfur.org , or the website of Reform Judaism's Religious Action Center: http://rac.org/advocacy/issues/issuesudan/sudangen/ . On a more local level, contact our Tikkun Olam (“Repairing the World”) Committee (see the “Social Action” page for contacts) and tell them that you want to be part of a congregational effort to help the victims of Darfur.
