Bereavement Support

Sad WomanGrief after the loss of a loved one is a normal and necessary response and process.  The transition during this difficult time is a courageous journey.  Information about how to deal with the painful issues related to dying and death can be found in our congregational guide "A Time to Prepare: A Guide for Mourning."

The UJA's Partners in Caring (PIC) are here to help you navigate through this life-changing time.  The Community Synagogue is a congregational member of PIC.

For those who have lost a spouse or partner and are in the grieving process, Partners in Caring (PIC) offers individual counseling and small, intimate, age and life stage appropriate groups.  Each group is facilitated by a caring, experienced professional social worker and meets at the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center in East Hills.

For those who have lost a child or a parent, PIC also provides individual counseling and resources, as well as information on  additional support groups available in the community.  All contacts are confidential.

For more information, please contact Audrey Bernstein at the Sid Jacobson JCC at 516-484-1545, ext. 196.
